Doing past exams from past study designs??

As many of you know, most of 2017 unit 3 and 4 subjects have a new study design and I was just wondering whether it would still be beneficial to do past exams.

definitely! particularly relevant in maths/science subjects, because past exams will expose you to as many questions as possible. just be careful about answering questions that are not relevant to the current course.
