Hey guys i was just wondering if anyone has been granted disability provisions and what you gain from it?
I have special provisions. I recieve rest breaks (5 minutes for every half an hour in the exam) and i get extra time (the rest break time is added on at the end of the normal exam time).

could any of you describe the processes of complete ionisation and incomplete ionisation (using balanced  equations with states of matter)

When high school is nearly over but you're already over with high school...

I made the biggest mistake of not dropping a subject that I was the weakest at in year 11, because I have an extremely amazing teacher and I kind of didn't want to disappoint her by dropping... (future HSC kids, please do not do this). So now having finished my first Econ (yup, that's the subject) HSC exam, which I unsurprisingly flunked, I'm losing all my motivations, on top of the belief that I'm actually hopeless at this darn subject. I cannot drop it and I'm stuck with it for my HSC.

If anyone at all know how to cope with this both emotionally and academically (like to be able to push through in this subject), please let me know because I'm pretty much just on this one man island of bad subject choices :(

Mhmm this is me with extension maths! I failed the prelim exam but I didn't want to drop it because I did spend a lot of time on the subject but since I've gotten a really good private maths tutor and I have seen results already! If you are really struggling with eco (one of my strongest subjects yet I still find it very difficult), I would recommend getting a tutor just to help you to think a certain way. Eco, is unlike any other subject, it does require a lot of you, but it really isn't a content heavy subject. You just need to MASTER certain concepts and know how they coalesce. Personally, eco is one of those subjects where a strong interest is required to perform well, just because if you like it, you will want to know more about it out of pure curiosity, but nonetheless I know rank2 in my class doesn't have much interest in eco, but she does try and discuss concepts with people on a frequent basis to consolidate her own knowledge and really get an insight into how 'econ minded' people think. There are a multitude of ways at looking at a concept, so I guess eco is just exposing yourself to as many 'ways of thinking' possible.

Hope this made sense (went on a little rant) :) Keep posting on econ forums ! Try and find one part of eco that you find interesting and work from there

I'm already on my way of finding an econ tutor! I went to a trial class before and it really was not what I expected it to be, since it is not that I'm struggling with the content, it's *how* I handle the content. I somehow just cannot integrate my content, stats and theory into the essays and I know that there are particular econ keywords that is required for a band 5 and 6 (which I have no idea how to put them in my essay either). So now I'm looking for a private 1 on 1 tutor who hopefully can fix some of this up so I can get a decent ATAR... The plan is to get a newly high school grad econ student to do the job, so fingers crossed this will work!

thank you for your advice though! it feels good (and at the same time kind of bad) knowing that I'm not alone on this island. Funny how I'm on the other side of the island though, since MX1 is my best subject :D

Hello, gumscape.

If that is the case, you don't have an in depth understanding of the topics and modules. I didn't do Economics, so I can't say how difficult it is with Economics, but I've seen a trend with those who simply surface their understanding of the concepts to those who go further into the concepts. Those who 'rote-learnt' (I'm using this term lightly because it doesn't apply 100% of the time) the content tended to fail with applying their understanding to hypothetical situations. This is often because hypothetical situations are built on the foundations, allowing you to express what you know to a situation that could potentially arise; this is called applied knowledge, where we use concepts based upon theory to come up with a conclusion that is based around the experiences of others.

From what I can see, this is a problem you're facing; you can't integrate/apply the ideas, which leads me to think you simply rote-learn content (though I may be wrong). What I suggest is to go back to basics, and really hone in how these ideas are applied based on the experiences of others. Research into the origins of these concepts, because the history of concepts offers more defined aspects about the specifics of these concepts. You'd be surprised as to how much more you can learn when you go that extra mile and cement the origins, applications, and theory of these ideas. Then putting them together becomes a lot clearer, allowing you to branch out to hypothetical situations more freely.

Hopefully, this helps with your problem of application!

If anyone has any related text ideas for discovery i would really appreciate it. School starts again in 5 days and I'm meant to have 2 related texts prepared and analysed, however procrastination is a thing >:( .

Omfg has anyone actually done a lot in preparation for school during these holidays? I've done literally nothing and I feel so fucking guilty because so many people around me have seemed to mastered their syllabus notes and shit... ugh. I'm also coming to the realisation that I'm going to receive the remainder of my first term assessment results back soon and I'm seriously not prepared hahahahaha

Haha that's how I'm trying to justify it to myself, but I've just been working 40+ hour weeks... not even resting lol.

Yeah but like, it's still non-HSC stuff ya know? Making money and doing something else with your energy - That can be just as good! I used to find working at KFC quite refreshing and restful in a way :)

^^ Agree with Jamon here. I spent my ENTIRE summer holidays working at the chemist. It was nice because you had a moment where you have the HSC off your mind. You have the rest of the year to study for the HSC, so don't stress too much ;D
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?
