PE Practical?

Hi.

I am still deciding on a 5th subject for next year, that is fairly easy to do well (with effort). However, i am not a very sporty person, but the course of PE seems fine -- like a basic science (i'm also doing bio and chem next year, and doing psych this year). Is there much actual physical activity (like PE was in grade 10 and below), or is it all theory? If there is practical, how much of the course %wise is it?

Or is this a subject where if i don't like doing physical activity, i shouldn't do it >_>

Thanks,

Vexx

With P.E this year, for the majority of the year, we had prac once a week unless we had a SAC or revision. But generally the activities you do are reflections of what you learn in class and it can help you understand the concepts better when you are physically experiencing the ways an athlete feels. (e.g different aerobic/anaerobic training methods).
Though, you have the option to not participate if you really detest physical activity.

If you dont like physical activity then I don't think you would have much interest in it to be honest. It depends on the school if you do much Prac. Our school generally will go out for prac for 30-40 mins of a 100 minute double each week for example. Some would do less, some more. And none of the practical is examined or anything, it is just there to increase your understanding of learned theory.

I think we had about 6 prac lessons all year. All boring as hell as the activity was relevant to theory so we had to stop every two minutes to take notes. Youre better off doing health OP.

Just realised old thread is old.

LOL,

At our school they went on SO many excursions for swimming, athletics etc (sort of forced to). They didn't have many practical lessons though.

i thought it was a great subject, if you're interested in sport but don't want to be active you'll still enjoy it... if you're not interested in sport (physically or theoretically) then it's probably not the best idea...
