Is it okay to highlight things on the exam paper?

For chemistry, physics and the maths, I've always underlined important bits with pencil which may be a bit hard to see sometimes. I was wondering, is it okay to use a highlighter to mark important bits?

Yeah, that's what I meant. :)
I've just never seen anyone use those bright pink/yellow/green highlighters at our school for our trial exams and SACs and wasn't sure if it's permitted by the VCAA

I used a highlighter in every single 3/4 exam I did last year.

I use them, they're on the accepted stationary list in the general exam booklet (whatever it's called; it's yellow mainly)
