Necessary Textbooks?

Hey all,
I'm enrolled in PHS1011, FIT1045 and ATS1371, all of which say textbooks may be used throughout the unit (some more than others). Has anyone done these units recently? Did you need the textbooks a lot/would you recommend purchasing them? If I am to purchase a textbook, most likely it will be second-hand.  ::)
In particular, FIT1045 has 2 textbooks labelled 'recommended', which I understand to mean they are not compulsory to have for the unit. To those who have done this unit- would you suggest I get them?
Also, anyone know where can I get these textbooks second hand? (e.g a trustworthy site like StudentVIP, etc).
Cheers!  ;D

Have you checked out the subject reviews for these units yet? Might want to give this resource a good read first!  :) Some may not appear, so check any missing units out on StudentVIP's review system as well. If both don't have a review, it's because it's uncommon, nobody wanted to review on it or new to this year.

Also, anyone know where can I get these textbooks second hand? (e.g a trustworthy site like StudentVIP, etc).
Found this old link on AN for you.
Summary of places besides StudentVIP:
- Monash Marketplace (see your my.monash portal and log in > On Campus > Monash Marketplace)
- Fishpond
- Booko

Hey, TPP! :D

Really good question. I'm afraid I can't comment on PHS1011 or FIT1045, but:

What's the prescribed textbook for ATS1371? I honestly don't recall using a textbook at all - although there was a very important reader.

Further to what AngelWings suggested, you could also try BookDepository. I'm not sure that I've ever used it, but it possibly could be another option? :)

Hey Joseph  :)
The prescribed book for this semester is 'Practical Ethics' by Peter Singer. I do intend on getting the reader as well, as I've heard its quite useful. Side note- we covered Singer's 'Famine, Affluence and Morality' last year in 3/4 Philosophy, so I'm deffs looking forward to reading more of him  ::)

I never bought the book and did just fine. :)
