As a deeply trivial person, I think I'm going to like this thread.

- The dot on the top of a lowercase i is called a tittle
- A jiffy (as in, "back in a jiffy") is an actual measurement of time; it refers to the time it takes light to travel one centimetre
- Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street was initially orange - not green

A mosquito has 47 cutting edges (their equivalent to teeth). Interesting backstory to this though: my great-grandfather served in WWII. In the very first page of his war journal is a handdrawn diagram of a mosquito, and a note listing the amount of "teeth" they have.

The Guugu Yimithirr indigenous language from a remote region of North Queensland is notable as a language that does not use egocentric coordinates, for example "three steps left; two steps backwards", instead employing cardinal directions; "move a bit to the west" to give directions. This seems unnatural to us, but is perfectly logical to speakers of Guugu Yimithirr and other languages that do this
