Hey everyone!
Have just lightly skimmed over Ransom, but I would really appreciate if anyone knows any themes relating to the text. Also, would anyone have any tips on what minute details I should look out for while highlighting and analysing my text?

Thanks :)

If memory serves me right (did Ransom one year ago), the most prominent themes are: storytelling, agency, war, identity and humanity. There are others of course, such as the role of women, but they are less evidently discussed in the novel. While reading, you should keep an eye on significant quotes, and more specifically how certain characters are portrayed. It'll all make sense in the end why as it ties in to one of Malouf's overall messages. Also, keep in mind the 'structural' elements of the novel; such as it being split into different parts or the very fact that it is a novel retelling history.
