what's the effort required to get 40-42 raw for a VERY average unit 1/2 student in math methods. Please help :( :( I heard it's so hard to get 40+ even if you study like crazy :( :(
I got 22/40 (55%) in my first unit 1/2 sac this year if that gives any indication of ability

Hello!
The level of effort varies for each person. I think that for an average student, you should at least do more questions than what's just for homework.
Again, the level of difficulty for getting a 40+ is different for every person. Some can do less work than others and yet do much better.
What matters is that you understand the concepts and you're able to apply it. Quality > Quantity
If you study like crazy, you will most likely get way too stressed out and not do as well in the end  :-\ It's about finding that balance.

I was originally not a strong maths student. For my first 1/2 test I got 70% and it wasn't even that hard now that I think back.
So don't lose hope! As long as you try in the end. You may do much better than you expected :)

I think unit 1/2 methods is a extremely good foundation for 3/4. Unlike other 1/2 subjects that have a lot of irrelevant topics that aren't even covered in 3/4, methods is pretty much exactly the same. As mentioned above how much effort you put in methods  varies for everyone, I personally didn't work all that hard for 1/2 methods, mainly because I've already done everything in tutor. However, i was pretty much in the same boat as you for spesh, spent quite a fair few hours each week and worked my arse off for the exams. So, try to build a strong foundation for next year, as it will really pay off!

Once you understand it, you understand it. Are you making careless errors or are you not grasping the concepts?

Mainly not grasping the concepts. Sometimes I use the worked solutions though, if it gets really hard. Any ways to grasp the concepts in methods 1/2 better, in general.
Thanks
