oral presentation topics

Hey everyone,
I am currently in the process of researching/brainstorming ideas for my upcoming oral presentation SAC. However, I am absolutely stuck for ideas on a topic that has been in the media within the past six months. Last year I did my oral presentation 'SAC' on greyhound racing and received full marks, and I was heavily considering re-doing this topic but I don't think it meets my school's criteria (must be a current affair from no earlier than September 2016.) If anyone has any topic suggestions please send them my way!

My school is doing penalty rates for our language analysis as it's an issue that has risen in the news recently. Since a lot of us work in retail and hospitality, maybe it might be interesting to you? Not sure, hopefully this helps a bit..

possible topics:
– vaccines (should they be mandatory, harsher penalties, etc. pretty popular though sorry)
– euthanasia (you can do literally anything with this: allow it, not allow it, allow it but with certain restrictions, whole child issue, etc)
– at the start of the year there was the whole australia day debate (ie. should we change the date to respect the indigenous population)
– safe schools program (so. much. material. if i wasn't at a religious school i'd have a field day with this tbh.)
– housing affordability in aus (there are a /lot/ of articles about prices going up so i feel like something could be done with that)
– gender equality in sports (this is kind of a bigger issue in america than aus though)
– asylum seekers (but there's literally always going to be an oral on this + same sex marriage)
– is uber putting the taxi industry out of business (this sounds odd but someone did it last year and apparently it was great? idek)
– legalising cannabis for medicinal purposes (is this still an issue? idk but there's always articles on it haha)
– i can't quite put this into a coherent topic off the top of my head but there's that proposition in parliament advocating for a safe drug injection facility to be opened in richmond and you could probably talk about the issues that raises for a couple hours lmao
– sexualisation in the media? (this could rly go for both men and women tbh but there was an article like yesterday criticising one channel nine reporter i think because she wore the same shirt twice in four months lmao, so. aka the world is A Mess but at least it's something to write about?)
