Things That Have Changed Since ATAR Notes Began

As you may or may not be aware, ATAR Notes turns ten this year!

So I thought it might be interesting to have a think about what has changed in the world in that time period. ATAR Notes has remained the best online community you could possibly find on the interwebz, and will continue to do so - but the world is constantly changing around us.

I'll kick us off:

In October 2007:

The Prime Minister of Australia was John Howard. Since ATAR Notes began, Australia has had five different Prime Ministers - including Kevin Rudd twice. It has been debatably the most tumultuous time in the history of Australian politics. Later in 2007, Kevin Rudd became Australia's 26th Prime Minister. Brendan Nelson was preferred to Malcolm Turnbull as Leader of the Opposition.

The very first iPhone had been launched less than four months earlier. It wouldn't be released in Australia until halfway through the following year.

Nobody had heard of One Direction - to be expected, considering the band members were then 13 (Harry), 14 (Zayn, Niall, Liam) and 15 (Louis). It was three years before their game-changing appearances on X-Factor.

Your turn! ;D

Since 2007, the Melbourne Football Club has seen eight different coaches (Neale Daniher, Mark Riley, Dean Bailey, Todd Viney, Mark Neeld, Neil Craig, Paul Roos and Simon Goodwin). Since the end of 2006, it has "enjoyed" a win-draw-loss record of 57-2-166, with many of those wins coming against clubs in their infancy. On average, that's ~5.4 wins per year (with the most - 10 - coming in 2016).

Some random events that have occurred within a couple of years of AN starting:

- The Twilight series and Hunger Games were published, and later movies (yes, they didn't exist for the first members of ATAR Notes)

- Black Saturday fires, the worst in Australia's history, occurred early 3009 2009, oops

- 3D movies weren't in existence in 2007

I have totally not double-checked my sources for these, so they're probably all wrong ;)
