Words That Don't Exist, But Should Exist

Inspired by Elyse's thread on where the English language lacks. The discussion moved toward words that aren't easily translated into English, which is a sick discussion IMO.

But in this thread, I want to think of some words that just... aren't a thing. But should be a thing.

For example, does anybody else have an internal conflict when waiting at traffic lights? One part of me just wants to walk if it's very clearly safe, but I never do, because I have this deep-seated fear of disobeying rules and regulations lol. So I have this weird sort of hesitancy all the time when I get to traffic lights. Why is there not a word for this?!

I also do this thing where I make a cup of tea or instant coffee, and then don't drink it for many hours. It's the act of actually making the beverage that I find enjoyable, often more than actually consuming said beverage. How can I explain this in just one word?!

--

If you have suggestions for these soon-to-be words, please muse here. ;D

I definitely reckon seenxiety for when someone's seen your message but hasn't responded, and sentxiety (thanks Nick) for a platform where you don't know if someone's seen something or not, but they haven't responded.

I don't know how to turn this into an adjective though. :P

I also reckon bluthering is a decent word for that awful amxious and uptight and fuzzy place where you're glued to a laptop/computer/phone for ages with no purpose, just aimlessly surfing.

Oh man I feel you on that traffic light thing. Add to it someone else deciding to walk across, and there's this complex mental conflict about whether you should follow the crowd in doing wrong... hahahaha.  Imma call it a jaymuddle because jaywalking + dilemma/muddle and it sounds cool. (And the verb, to jaymuddle.)

I wish there was a verb for "walking to the fridge even though you're not hungry but actually just bored."

I use a couple of non existent words with my family:

Turb: Verb, to play video games

Podger: Noun, A snobby rich person

There is no real reason we use these words since there are plenty of existing synonyms, but I guess they sound cool/funny.

I'm presently reading Kate Burridge's Blooming English (shame on me for having not read it to this point). A couple of excepts on similar topics for inspiration:

Quote from: Kate Burridge
Creations like onosecond - that minuscule fraction of time when you realize that you've just done something inexplicably ghastly (you know, you've hit the wrong computer key and the fruit of your last two hours of hard labour has just disappeared); kinstirpation 'the painful inability to move visiting relatives'; lullabuoy 'that idea that keeps floating into your head, preventing you from drifting into sleep'; foreploy 'any misrepresentation or outright lie about yourself that leads to sex'.

Quote from: Kate Burridge
It's difficult to choose just one favourite word. I've got lots, and for different reasons. Gobbledygook for its sound, glarpo ('the juncture between ear and skull where pencils and pens are stored') for its usefulness and alloloutrophilist ('one who drinks another's bathwater') for its delightful pointlessness. I have plenty of dead favourites too - and here it's really hard to decide. But if I had to vote, it'd likely be velleity. The Oxford English Dictionary describes it as 'the fact or quality of merely wishing or desiring, without any effort or advance towards action or realization'. You must all have experienced velleity - that sense of desire that's, well, not quite strong enough to motivate you to do anything about it. How could we let that word slip away?

I love "onosecond".

Was listening to a TED talk that recommended the word "pizzled" for the moment when you're talking to someone and they suddenly check/answer their phone and it's like you're not there anymore. (Combo of puzzled and pissed off.)

I wish there was a word for:
''acting like paying attention to someone talking but no info actually going in your head bc you're thinking about something else.''
''seeing your phone charge and feeling super cool when it gets to a 100% charged phase''
''staring at something but not actually staring at it because you're so accompanied by your thoughts''

I have a short attention span and I always need to be doing something, even if it is done mindlessly, to keep my attention for more than 15 minutes. So, in class, I need to be doodling or scrolling my phone (without actually engaging with the content) in order to fully absorb what my teacher is saying. It's not a distraction because that implies something taking my full attention, and it's not procrastination because it's not stopping me from doing the work. It's like intentional-distracting-for-the-purpose-of-benefitting-my-work-overall. It's like one section of my mind needs to be lulled by something in order for the other part of my brain to be fully functioning and absorbing.

Maybe there is a word for this? I find it hard to describe this to people, they say, "so you need a distraction?" but the connotations from that imply that I'm not doing it to enhance learning, but actually to stop learning for a bit.
