Hello guys!
How is everyone?
Okay so what i did was for maths was go through all the material in a year 8 and 9 textbook which includes quadratics, linear, algebra, trigonometry, geometry(angles) and chance and probability. Go through all the topics and make sure that you understand the questions you get wrong. This is very important.
For Numerical Reasoning, i suggest that you practise finding the rules for number patterns. Trust me, this is going to be helpful! Basically, this part of the exam is using your problems solving skills to figure out the answers.
For Reading Comprehension, practise skimming over the text and picking out the key information. This means looking for keywords in the question and looking for it in the text. I find this is a handy tool.In the exam, you are NOT going to have enough time to read over the whole passage. You will have to work quite quickly. Also learn new vocabulary words.
For Verbal Reasoning, make sure that you learn your vocabulary even if it is only learning 3 words a day. What i did was actually revise through all the roots, suffixes and prefixes. This really helps if you are stuck on a word and you have no idea what it means. Also, practise questions which say true/false/indeterminable. Again, in this part of the test, you will have to think logically.
In the Writing, make sure that you have a proper structure that flows. What i found in the Analytical Writing was that you should make your sentences really meaningful and concise, without writing random, unnecessary information. This will make your piece stronger. Use T.E.E.L and make sure you give a lot of evidence!
For Creative Writing, you have be creative obviously and use your imagination. Don't write cliche. Use metaphors, similes, personification! Use different techniques to make your writing vivid!.
For me, the tests that were the most difficult were Reading Comprehension and Numerical Reasoning.
In my opinion, you shouldn't worry about how many superiors you get and do your best. Do the best that you possibly can and work hard. You will reach the top if you do that!
The year level standards were year 8 and year 9 from my experience.
Good Luck!
