Not too sure where I heard it, but I remember hearing somewhere that courses completed seperate from unit 3/4 studies can contribute positively to ones ATAR. Am just wondering if anyone else had heard the same thing. I am currently looking into completing a 3/4 methods equivalent course, and am just wondering, if it can contribute to my ATAR positively in any way, and what the process behind that would look like.

Any input is appreciated, including if anyone any recommendations for VCE methods equivalent courses!

This is not true. only your VCE 3/4 scores affect your atar. there was a rumour going around in my high school that being a scout increases your atar by 10 whole points lmfao anyway its not true, its all about your unit 3/4 scores

I think the OP means university extension programs, which would be 'courses completed separate from unit 3/4'? But I don't think there's one that can be the Methods equivalent... they usually are beyond Methods level. If this is what the OP means, then yes, those can contribute to the ATAR, but only as the 5th/6th subject and give a maximum of a 5.0 increment, depending on the grade you get there.

With the scouts rumour, that would have come from the fact that if you achieve your Queen Scout Award (more than 300 hours of work) some Uni's will decrease the ATAR you need to get into courses (which ones depends on the Uni). This can also apply for other forms of community involvement but isn't guaranteed, and there is an application process.

As AngelWings said, approved university extension programs can act as a 5th or 6th subject

Adding to above, I have very minimal knowledge about the way that the technicalities work in relation to the impact on scores, but I completed my Certificate Three in Retail through work when I was doing VCE and it was added into my ATAR in some magical-fairy-notsurehowitworked way.

I wouldn't stress about adding to your workload for it though, it only ended up increasing my ATAR by 0.1 !!
