Hi katet12,
I'm doing Studio Arts 3/4 at the moment but I'm also aiming for a 40+. Here are the things I've heard you need to do to get over 40+
1. Know your art theory - the exam is a big component of your marks.
Pretty sure it's in these 4 areas (from the top of my head)
Materials, Processes and Techniques
Aesthetic qualities and how it's made by Elements and Principles
Historical and cultural context of artists
Symbols, ideas and meanings
If you're a good English/Literature student you'll do well. Studio Arts is actually more about writing than art.
2. Listen to what your art teacher says even if you disagree. Unfortunately, art is very subjective so your art teacher will be giving you the marks.
3. Annotate a lot. At this time of year, I assume you're doing your process folio now. Take photos of everything and document, document. Even writing measurements would add depth in.
Hope that helps!
