Seeing you at work with your latest Macbook Pro and having to use a USB-C to USB 3 adaptor just to plug in your wireless mouse thingie makes me appreciate why I chose a windows laptop. :p

I choose to ignore this post.

It's the mouse's fault. Why doesn't the mouse have Bluetooth?

Ps - Own two Macs, run Windows in a partition on one  of them. Worth the cost for me

That sounds terrible.

Nah, it's not so bad if you ignore the bit about having to use a USB-C to USB 3 adaptor just to plug in your wireless mouse thingie.

Macs. Happy to pay a little extra if it means I have zero problems with my laptop, great customer service if I ever do have an issue, and longevity.

Both PC and Mac are good.

PC allows you to do complex things and to modify it. Macs don't but they do look nicer and perform the same functions (albeit with less flexibility in hardware).

An PC with a tower isn't the nicest looking thing, but it sure has some damn good power. Macs have beautiful designs and screens.

As a side note, I think PC (specifically Microsoft) absolutely blows Apple out of the water in the tablet/PC hybrid area. Microsoft Surface is worlds ahead of the iPad Pro as something to work with. Apple will need to play some big catchup in that area :P

I use a Windows 10 PC for home purposes. I would classify myself as a computer person. Building PC's for friends and actively keeping up with the market. I have over 4200 posts on whirlpool helping people out.

This year I decided to purchase a Macbook Pro 2016 13" for school. My first impression was that honestly, it doesn't feel like I'm using a computer. The OS is so bizarre and weird. Things on Windows I assume just aren't there. No regrets though, awesome screen, keyboard, touchpad and battery.

I just find Windows a far more fulfilling experience. A true desktop experience. MacOS feels like a mobile OS or tablet if I'm honest.

Do you run Windows in a Virtual Machine or similar on that laptop? That's what I'd be doing if you miss the Windows OS ;D

Nah I don't feel right buying a Macbook and using bootcamp ahah, I'd rather use the Windows experience at home. Takes a bit getting used to MacOS. Was texting friends asking how to copy paste day 1 lol

Mac for sure!

I was so accustomed to using Windows, and yes, like @insanipi, I also broke a computer a child (don't ask) :P

When I got my first laptop, it was a Windows computer, and I was super happy with it, something I knew well and loved. I tried video editing on Windows Movie Maker which was simple enough for a 12 year old, but then it just abruptly stopped working 6 months later - and it kept happening with other computers but of varying ages.

I pretty much just gave up, but when I got a second hand Mac that was older the following year, I still felt it to be a smoother experience than my Windows computer.

I may as well also add that I'm in no way creative HAHA (some people say left handers are creative - I'm just breaking one stereotype after the other aren't I :P ) But ultimately, its up to personal preference. I still prefer some Windows only applications or programs, as well as the basic Paint and Movie Maker if I want to do something on a small scale. To me, they're both super easy to use now :D

Yes I don't know how I broke a computer but it had something to do with sticking something into the CD slot - never leave a 3 year old  next to a computer guys XD

Hahaha...
Mainly a PC user, as I haven't had a lot of experience with other OS's.
I did briefly run Ubuntu in Virtualbox on my Bro's laptop... Up there with the worst five minutes of my life ratings.

I have been attempting to dual boot the home computer, to a Win 10 and Linux Mint dualology (is this even a tech term ??? ?).
My fiddlings were blamed as the cause for the graphics card blowing (thrice) ;D, and now I'm a penitent Windows 10 user.  :-[

(P.S.-  You can't leave us in suspense @Hydroxyl ...
Not asking, just telling you, lots of sympathetic ears in the forums.  :D )

I think when you buy a Mac, you're clearly buying the brand. The laptop I'm using right now is the first laptop I've ever paid for out of my own money. I've always used the family's desktop computer up until 3rd year uni. For a small period of time I used an old af second hand Mac that my mum's friend gave her, just to browse the internet before it got too old too use.

So when I was buying this laptop I did as much research as I could. I learned basics like the difference between SSD and normal hard drives, what RAM meant, what a processor was and what difference quality of processor made to computer functioning and so on... looked at the specs of basically any laptop sold in electronic good stores within the $1100 to $1800 range.

The offering of "PC" laptops were broad and came from many brands, which could get confusing. Some I'd heard of - Toshiba, for example (seriously considered a Toshiba touch screen laptop), some I hadn't. But I knew the Apple brand. They had a reputation for good customer service, for moderate levels of reliability etc... Whereas for PC brands - farout. Even if I wanted to do my research, where would I start. I think for me, the extra $200 or so, as an uninformed consumer, was worth paying just to have a central brand that I could 'trust' and not experience buyer's remorse.

(Also, forgot until now, but lower risk of viruses was also a big selling point for me. Growing up I could barely use a fucking website without my Dad lecturing me about TROJAN HORSE MATE BE CAREFUL OF THE FKN TROJAN HORSE DON'T CLICK ANY LINK EVER NO MATTER WHAT ON THE ENTIRE INTERNET OR YOU'LL GET A TROJAN HORSE). Seriously. Trading some GP on RuneScape? Trojan horse. Sending a smiley face on MSN? Trojan horse. Playing Sims/Age of Empires without even connecting to the internet? TROJAN. FUCKING. HORSE.

Anyway. My 2c.

My Mac's 2.5 years old at the moment and still going suppppper strong. Unless I physicall damage it, feels like I could keep using this laptop for a very long time. I'll run it into the ground and probably buy another Mac again when the time comes. (And yeah, after using PCs for 21 years, after adjusting to a Mac, it seems infinitely easier to use, but that probably has something to do with Windows updates since I transitioned to a different OS).
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️
