FREE FOOD AND DRINKS

Everyone knows that uni students love a good freebie or discount and so I'm on the hunt for businesses that offer free food for very little in return e.g. make an account/ get their app

So far all I've really found is that Starbucks gives you a half price drink if you download their app and make an account  (takes about 1 minute) and Guzman Y Gomez gives you a free burrito if you, again, get their app and sign up

Does anyone know of any other places that do something similar to this? or that have rewards programs that are actually worth the effort?

Omg I'm always on the lookout for these too!!
There are lots, some of them are more like bogof (buy one get one free) and some are rewards programs where you spend there and then you get points in return and shit...

I've got a list (and also lmk if anything is wrong/outdated), some of them may not be worth the effort though, especially if you don't eat much:
Spoiler
- Boost Juice: download their app (or you can get a membership card) and scan it each time you buy a drink. After you have bought 10 drinks (10 points), then you get a free original juice; you also get a free juice on your birthday
- Hungry Jacks: idk if they still do their "shake&win" app anymore, but each time you were at HJ you could shake the app and win something, whether it be a discounted item up to a free burger
- KFC: feedback survey link at the bottom of receipt. fill it out, write the code on the receipt and you get a free regular chips + can of drink if your next purchase is $4.95+
- McDonalds: there's a feedback survey link at the bottom of your receipt and you can choose between a free soft serve cone, small fries, or 10 McBites to receive at your next purchase. They email the voucher to you which you must show and you have to sign up for a free MyMacca's Account
- Nandos: you can join via their free app and you can scan your card to earn points and redeem freebies later on. every month they like email you  a new voucher which are often stuff like "buy a main item and you can get a free large side" etc; also a free meal on your bday
- Oporto: you get points every time you spend, and from time to time they email you discount vouchers; you also get a free bday meal
- Red Rooster: again you scan your card for points and sometimes they email you vouchers; also free bday meal
- Slurpee: download their app and I believe after 6 slurpees you can get a free one? not too sure
- Sumo Salad: same as previous, scan your card for points and you get a free bday meal

I'm sure there's more, that's all I got from the top of my head :P

This one is a bit odd, but Hungry Jacks offer a free BBQ Cheeseburger if you fill out the feedback survey at the bottom of their receipts.
You can ask people for their Hungry Jacks receipts since no one really bothered to do it, or even reads their receipt. Or you can find some in a bin if very desperate lol.
The survey only takes like 2 minutes and it presents you with a code for the cashier.

I love this one!

My best friend, who was team leader at my local HJs, used to give me all the receipts so I could claim alot of cheeseburgers! :')
#funtimes

Also I think* on your birthday, Chocolateria (sp?) San Churro gives you free churros.
*someone confirm this pls :)

Lot's of rewards programs for coffees at cafes. I know Michelle's Patisserie still uses stamp cards, I think it's buy 9 and get the 10th free. Also if you sign up via the app/online with Jamaica Blue, Muffin Break, or the Shingle Inn, you can redeem a free coffee.

Spudbar also does a free spud for your birthday. A really excellent one if you're looking for something delicious and healthy! ;D

OMG I abuse this deal so much it is not funny!!!
Combine this with a $1 item (coffee if its morning, slushie if it's not or $1 onion rings if I am hungry) so you will always get a receipt.

AND- the shake and win hungry jacks app is awesome as well. If you know when to check in, you can score all the freebies (eg I know Wednesday mornings 7:45 or so will get me a free medium coffee at a specific hungry jacks)

Ozbargain has listed a whole site of birthday deals also - worth checking out. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/list_of_birthday_deals

7-11 app sometimes has free coffees and if you sign up you get a free krispy Kreme.

If you complete a 5 minute survey at Studentedge you can get a $10 giftpax voucher. Giftpax have a coffee pack (6x coffees at coles express for $9) which is awesome or you could do multiple for a better freebie (eg 3 wraps for $20 or so) - these are given as coupons with at least 4 months on them. While we are on the topic of student edge as well download their app and you can get a free medium soft drink/orange juice (or coffee in VIC) with any purchase over $3.

KFC and Maccas apps normally gives cheaper prices - sometimes they have free hot drink with any purchase or $5 off a $10 order etc

I'm sure there is more out there but this is all I've got off the top of my head
Yes, I have invested a lot of time into this ;D

My personal favourite: a free medium drink at Maccas for every purchase over $3! (or small coffee if you are lucky enough to reside in VIC!) - combine this with free fries for completing the survey and get yourself a decent $3 burger - lunch sorted!

For those so inclined, you can get a free bubbletea at ChaTime for your birthday if you're a member of their rewards programme and present ID.

I stupidly signed up with my Chinese name so ID won't work :( No free birthday bubble tea for me </3

Also can confirm churros at San Churro. If you google "birthday freebies" you'll find a shit load of others. There's some restaurant that will give you a free meal, for instance.

EDIT: here's an exhaustive list of birthday freebies

I don't know if anyone is on the Halal Snack Pack Appreciation Society page on Facebook, but if you are, you would have surely heard of Centreway Kebabs. Anyway, rock up on your birthday, show them some ID, and enjoy your free regular-sized HSP!
