I have a habit of always stepping on cracks.
I know that's a major source of bad luck but it's just something I do haha.
Your mum's back must be quite broken by now :(

From the start of VCE to the end of uni, I wore the same pair of underpants on every exam day - and every day I received results.
I'm really impressed at the longevity of your underwear!

I sort of do this - wear the same pair of underwear for each game in soccer, but it's always a new pair each year. Gotta have a new pair for a new season haha.
I also have to jump (like, knees to chest) 3 times right before kick-off.

I always set my pens, etc. up in the same way for exams. Watch on right side of table towards the top, highlighters and pens on the right side, pencil and eraser on the top of the table. Water bottle on the floor on the right hand side, right next to the table leg.

This is a precautionary ritual, but I always get up in the morning so I catch a train 20-40 minutes earlier than I have too, incase y'know... Metro. :-[

I also always have to have at least one book on my radio, else it just feels like I can't relax. (This is more weird than a ritual haha)

That's not a superstition, that's common sense :P
Had a lot of issues with metro lately :/
I now wake up 30m before I have to for a similar reason except I'm prone to sleeping in and lateness

When batting, I always performed the same 15-20 second routine after each ball. Got sledged for it a lot, but #fukkdah8ers.

Out of curiosity, what did the routine involve?

From the start of VCE to the end of uni, I wore the same pair of underpants on every exam day - and every day I received results.

Gee, I really hope you never had exams five days in a row or anything like that ;)

One of my own little rituals that I do with a lot of different things, be it exams, study, or even building stuff, is a thing called Knolling

I line everything that I am about to use up and spend a couple minutes setting it all out at neat right angles and square set.
It allows me to see the full spread of what I have available to use and get things that I may not have ready. (except for in the case of the exam, then its just all accessible and ready to go)

It gives me a chance to calm my nerves and focus my mind to the task at hand and makes it neat so I can easily grab anything that I will be using

Literally Fumbling my way through this entire year, but oh well, whats the fun in having everything laid out for you?

I demonstrated to Brenden the other day - much easier in person hahaha.

But like:

- Walk about six paces toward square leg
- Stop, pivot to look around the field
- Consider each fielder from ~square leg to see if there will be any changes
- Walk back to the crease
- Adjust pads, gloves and box
- Scrape spikes parallel to crease (depending on various things, either a fair bit outside of or just inside of crease - never on the crease)
- Scrape spikes perpendicular to crease (always take centre but stand closer to centre and off)
- Do a bit of gardening if necessary
- Scrape parallel to crease again
- Walk backward about two steps
- Look around the field again, and then directly at the bowler (who's inevitably ready to bowl; it's all about the power games lol)
- Peddle feet a few times
- And I'm sweet :)

I expect to see a demonstration at the next meetup.

Reminds me of my pre kick-off routine in my days of goal keeping:

- Start at left goal post, measure how many paces to centre (along goal line)
- Measure how many paces from centre to right goal post
- Step out to 6 yard box, and mark on the line where my goal posts were
- Squirt water onto gloves. Smash hands together 4 times, then rub them together
- Step back into centre on goal line, and jump up and touch the crossbar, just once
- Step up to penalty spot for kick off

Never sure why I did the paces. It was always the exact same amount, no matter which ground I played at :P

I'd... definitely fall asleep. Bloody hell! How many times did an umpire tell you to hurry up?

I definitely expect a demonstration next Tuesday!

Did you do this even if you were facing a spinner?? I know there were a few spinners in my comp who rushed through their deliveries very quickly - raced back to their mark etc. I used to fiddle with my helmet and pads etc. a fair bit (particularly early in my innings) for a very legitimate amount of time and I found even that held them up and annoyed them. If I'd done your routine I might have been lucky to make it off the field!!

I always knock on wood after I say something to avoid jinxing myself. Like if I say "I hope I get 90% for this exam" or "hope I don't loose my ranking", I knock on wood after saying it. Sounds strange but it gives me reassurance that I won't jinx myself.

THIS
or if I think something bad I don't want to happen I'll do that so it doesn't happen.
Once a friend told me that if you knock on your head it's the same so now I discreetly tap my head twice when I have a bad thought in conversation or just randomly but no one has noticed yet LOL

also I always need to have my phone in my coat pocket when I'm at uni or anywhere, and I always touch the pocket to check it every few mins haha. If it's too hot for a coat I'll hold it or wear something with pockets or I don't feel right

Another one is I'm always checking my bag periodically at uni to make sure my laptop is still there but I'm getting over that one

I'm bumping this because I just remembered a ritual/habit I keep haha:
Every Sunday, ever since I was really little, I've had a shower/bath at the exactly same time each time. I don't know why this is a habit, but I don't feel like it's a Sunday night otherwise :P

Mine would be taking everything out of my pocket and wrist before I do public speaking.
I have no idea why at this point I still do it. It started because I was nervous for one speech to my school and now I just do it.
Everyone 'always' gives me shit for it, but at the end of the day, if my speech is done well due to this ritual then so be it.
