Do you have any superstitions or rituals?

I have a few, mostly related to sport.

I play soccer, and I have a specific ritual to do with putting all my gear on. I put my shorts on, then my playing top. I put my left sock on, then my right one, I put my left boot on, then my right, then I tie up my right boot before my left. I put my left shinguard in first, then my right, and I put my shinguard straps (these stop my shinguards from falling down) on - right before left.
If for some reason I don't do it in this order, I have to take stuff off and start again.

I also have to wear number 11, no matter what team I play on. Last year, someone almost took my number, and I was actually prepared to not play because of it hahaha - every goal I've scored, every grand final I've won, every big achievement I've had has been wearing that number. So I couldn't imagine wearing a different number, without suddenly losing all my playing abilities :P

Do you guys have any superstitions or rituals? :)

Really similar re: sport.

Left pant leg before right, left boot before right, left pad before right, left glove before right etc. Walked onto the field with my left foot. Had to wear #41.

When batting, I always performed the same 15-20 second routine after each ball. Got sledged for it a lot, but #fukkdah8ers.

I'll be coming back to this thread a lot. I have many superstitions like this.

I don't have a lot of routines in regular sport (footy, tennis, cricket, so on). I definitely have idiosyncrasies - little weird things that I wouldn't classify as an actual routine... but I definitely have a routine for lifting weights (mostly squats and deadlifts).

I start the same distance away from the bar every time and take the same amount of steps towards the bar, adjust my waistband so it's on the right place of my hips, pull my shirt forward, take a huge deep breath, then set up  for the lift. (I feel like this is almost required by the sport, similar to having the same ball-bouncing routine before a tennis serve. It's just what you do)
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

Before I play table tennis, I swing my bat a few times and then chuck it in the air once . Not sure why, HAHA.

I always knock on wood after I say something to avoid jinxing myself. Like if I say "I hope I get 90% for this exam" or "hope I don't loose my ranking", I knock on wood after saying it. Sounds strange but it gives me reassurance that I won't jinx myself.
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?

Every time I put an inanimate object down, I have to tell it, "stay". Just so it doesn't walk off while I'm doing something else.

The worst part is if I don't do this, my stuff actually tends to move. :'(

Mine aren't quite the same, but I do have certain habits such as counting the number of objects I have to make sure I always have them all (eg myki pencil case phone laptop). Last semester I didn't check my checklist (made specifically for exams) and forgot my calculator, was almost a disaster
I also have rituals when I get home. Most of the time I have to shower as soon as I get home, I won't eat or do anything until I shower unless I have no other choice.
I also check to make sure my phone is in my backpack and I haven't left it behind. I do it about every hour or two and get mini heart attacks if I don't find it in 30s.
I have a strong fear of losing things haha

I wore my school uniform to my HSC exams even though we could wear mufti. I thought it might do something for my mindset. Can't confirm it did.

SAME. i do this all the time!

this is probably a very bad mindset to have but i always prepare myself for failure, particularly when getting marks back so i feel better about myself when i get a bad mark.

From the start of VCE to the end of uni, I wore the same pair of underpants on every exam day - and every day I received results.

Oh - that pair is the only pair I own, so I also wear them every other day of the year. ;)

(Nah, just exam and result days.)

In the morning, where I first go out on the footpath or whatever, I have to step over the first line with my left foot, then right foot (for second), then left foot (for third), then both feet (for fouth). From there, I can walk normally

I have a habit of always stepping on cracks.
I know that's a major source of bad luck but it's just something I do haha.
