Chinese SL (Help!)

Hello! I'm not too sure how to use this..but I'll try!

So, I was just wondering how hard it is to get a 30-35 in Chinese SL!!
I'm really nervous!

What should I be averaging?
So far I'm only averaging 75-80% in SACs, and I'm not too sure if thats enough for 30-35 SS!
Someone help! I'm so new to this!

Also do GA (Graded Assessments) scale??

Thank you!

In my experience, that should be fine :) - especially if you take into account that 30 is the average.

As for GAs, don't they always 'scale' to some degree according the ranking of the students in your cohort doing the subject? Like everyone's marks will be adjusted according to how well the 'highest-scorer' did?

(Note: I did VCE Chinese a few years back, so I'm sorry if this isn't the case anymore.)

I'm not too sure! I'm just really scared. My cohort isn't strong at all! And my day school doesn't offer Chinese, I'm also the only one doing it outside of school. I go to a small campus at XJS, do you still think I can get 30 with a weak cohort..

Scaling really won't affect you if your at the top of your cohort. Like Lily said, 30 is around average so I guess you'll be fine.

Don't worry. I go to the Thomas Carr campus of XJS and my class is tiny (pretty disadvantaged too since most of them don't speak Chinese at home). I'm the only person at my school doing Chinese so you're not the only one. (only difference is that Im doing Units 1 and 2)....

I'm in Year 9 and I got to the main campus of XJS(Mount Waverley). I'm also in their accelerated program in which I'm doing VCE prep rn. I have strong Chinese basics as I watch Chinese tv, listen to Chinese radio and speaking to my parents and relatives in chinese. For my tests, I usually get 90-95%. Do you think I'll be able to get 40+?

A big flaw I find in XJS is that from Prep to like Year 9, the primary focus is on Chinese (For my campus anyways). They neglect anyform of translation which is a big part in VCE Chinese. You have good basics so I think you'll go pretty good on the oral and essay writing. Translation will be dependent on your understanding of both languages (There's one student in my class who was born in China but had pretty bad English. He absolutely bombed out during a writing/translating task. He's pretty lazy too and could be described as "在吃老本“ ) As for the listening task, understanding probs wont affect you, but attention to details might. (Ie: subtle details that you didn't pay attention too). I've made a lot of those mistakes.
