(Obligatory maths joke) As a mathematician, I never worry about going out drinking because I know my limits.
It's been a long time since I've updated my journal, sorry about that

Second semester and first year of uni is over, woohoo! I've survived!
Results came out a couple weeks ago, I'm very proud

done even better than last semester, even with my dreadful exam timetable (three exams in consecutive time slots, within 24 hours). I'm 0.625 off my dream WAM so if I'm incredibly lucky I might be able to get it in the future!
There's also a scholarship I might be eligible to cover 3rd year and Masters tuition plus work opportunities that I can apply for in early 2019.
I've applied to do a summer subject to reduce my workload in semester 2 and to allow me to do all the subjects I need to do in semester 1. It's a shame it'll use up a lot of my holidays but it'll only be 2 days a week so hopefully I can still relax on the other days.
I'm in the process of deciding what I want to do. Right now I've decided against doing a diploma of informatics because I simply don't have the time for it.
I want to do an (unofficial) double major in maths and engineering. There are 4 different maths majors and more in engineering. I'm currently thinking of doing applied maths (but could also choose pure maths or one of the other majors, I still need to look into it more). For engineering I'm thinking of doing electrical but could also do mechanical, and I've ruled the others out. One of the downsides to mechanical is that it has so many prerequisites, so I might have to over-enrol (do more credit points than required for my degree and pay full fees for the subject).
It's very tough to do all the prerequisites required for two majors :p
I'm still partially in uni-mode. I haven't gotten addicted to any tv shows or books, I guess it's my subconscious saying I don't have time for it

If anyone has any amazing book suggestions feel free to let me know

(I'm a fan of sci-fi/fantasy and dystopian, not much a fan of romance. Open to suggestions outside of these genres, I'm just looking for an addictive book- I'll recheck the AN book club thread for more ideas

)
One of my reservations is available from the library ("Dragonfly in Amber")

planning on picking it up tomorrow. Also currently reading a Stephen King book ("Different Seasons", a few short stories). And I'm enjoying them, but not addicted; I want a book (or tv show) that I can't put down.
Today I was very productive. I managed to enrol for my summer subject classes, do 3 loads of clothes washing and 3 loads of the dryer, vacuumed, and organised my payment for tutoring (and now I've also updated my journal!). Hopefully I can get to bed at a reasonable time tonight. Planning on making chocolate cupcakes in the next few days (my dad recommended buying a store mix, as though that's the only way you can make good cupcakes?!)
Long update, hope you enjoyed reading
