So....realistically and on average, how much time does it actually take to take public transport from the city and get to Monash? And as there are multiple bus routes that go there I know you can take a couple of different pathways but for the sake of this question assume that you are always taking the most efficient route possible.

So you live in the city and want to go to Clayton?

I'm sort of the opposite since I go from boxhill to the city.

About 2/3's of my travelling time is getting the bus into boxhill. Usually because I reach the bus too early or too late.

If I were you I would consider moving or going to a uni in the city.

Well I may move although I want to give transport a go. I tried once from Flinders to Clayton and it took me about 35 mins via Huntingdale but the bus was just waiting there at that time so I was lucky. I wanted to know whether it was an anomaly. On the whole, I can handle it if it takes 35 minutes from the city on average, I already travel to get to school (like a lot of us) and I'm not a stranger to train study on SAC/exam days either so I'm used to it. I was more hoping that moving would be a last resort option I would look at if I think it's getting a bit too hard. But I wanted to know what the reality is so I can plan ahead.

Well I go from South Yarra, passing Monash Clayton on a daily basis. I don't think it's so bad. Buses usually leave Huntingdale for Monash Clayton fairly often (The 900 Smartbus generally leaves every 15 mins, there's another bus too), so you won't be stranded there for ages or anything.

Can you estimate how long your average train takes just to get to Huntingdale from South Yarra?

That's good :) Is it around 10 from Flinders to South Yarra?

My sense of time is bad but it's annoying when it goes all the way around the loop >_> That may take more than 10 minutes...?

Depends on which way around the loop...direct is around 9 minutes and around the loop is something like 21 minutes.
