Monash and public transport

So....realistically and on average, how much time does it actually take to take public transport from the city and get to Monash? And as there are multiple bus routes that go there I know you can take a couple of different pathways but for the sake of this question assume that you are always taking the most efficient route possible.

To Monash Clayton?  About an hour... 40-45 mins for the train (depends on whether it is an express), and 10 minutes for the bus.  Assuming no waiting time in between.

According to Journey Planner, from Flinders Street to Monash takes anywhere from 35 to 45 minutes

why? I use it all the time. What has happened to you or someone you know before?

everything related to public transport is evil. Bus timetables lie to me. They come too early when I come just on time, they come too late when I come early. The journey planner relies on timetables, hence it too must be evil.

don't over think it Over 9000

I called it a formula because a led to b which led to c

I guess maybe a better word was equation. I really don't care what i call it.

It works, but there are hidden costs if you don't research your path.

The Journey Planner often makes you do retarded switchovers at non-optimal positions.

There is a bus I can catch from Victoria Park, or Collingwood. The train I take goes Victoria Park then Collingwood. The bus, on the other hand, goes Collingwood, then Victoria Park.

Metlink tells me to goto Collingwood (past Victoria Park on the train), so I get to catch the bus and enjoy going past Victoria Park again and go WTF?

LOL. That's happened to me too. But most of the time I'll check the route maps to make sure I'm not doubling back. It's only a machine, after all :P

The question is, who can work out what route I'm taking from that information above? (Expects Neobeo to be able to do this)

So you live in the city and want to go to Clayton?

I'm sort of the opposite since I go from boxhill to the city.

About 2/3's of my travelling time is getting the bus into boxhill. Usually because I reach the bus too early or too late.

If I were you I would consider moving or going to a uni in the city.
