Near-death experiences

Hey guys!

Have you experienced situations which could have resulted in your death?

My experiences:
   - My family's car was involved in a car crash when I was 6 months old. A truck smashed into the right side of the car, which is where the toddler seat was located (I was at home when this happened). My brother had received a giant teddy bear and he took it with him EVERYWHERE. That reduced the impacts of the crash on him (he sat in the middle of it, and there were numerous glass shards embedded in the teddy bear)
   - I was 2 or 3 years old, and I was about to board the train. Luckily my mum was holding my hand, as she suddenly felt a hard tug on her hand; I fell through the gap between the train and the platform ._.
   - My brother, my mum and myself were about to cross the road, and the green light had flashed for 10 seconds already (normal duration was 30s). Just as we took the first step onto the road, a van came speeding through (about 5cm in front of us)
   - My first swimming lesson (approx. 1 y.o): My swimming coach looked away for a while and found me face down… needless to say we found someone else
Life is weird and crazy as heck but what can you do?

Swimming lessons.

I had swimming lessons when I was younger and I tried swimming from one side to another.

I lost all of my energy and sank HAHA.

Once when I had swimming lessons, I held my breathe below water until I blue, had've I held my breathe for a few seconds longer, I'd not be here.

Once I also nearly flew off the scenic railway roller-coaster at Luna Park- this is why I don't go on them anymore :P

I swear - it's always trucks in the stories of car accidents I've heard anyway. I don't know if it's the lack of training or the amount of time spent driving which cause this unproven theory of mine - but it's always trucks. Or maybe I'm just being unnecessarily speculative. But, goodness, it must've been such a fright for your parents. I'm glad y'all are okay.

Swimming lessons - you don't drown that easy. :P It's surprisingly hard to drown without knocking yourself out first.

I have no traditional near death experiences that I'm aware of, but have come face to face with it, and... it changes your perspective on life.  You sort of understand the limitedness of life, and the need to live a meaningful life, when you brush with death.

LOL why are these all about swimming lessons? So is mine!

I was maybe about six or seven, and I wanted to impress my dad. So I decided to swim under one of those stands they sometimes keep in the middle of a lane (looked almost exactly like this: https://i.pinimg.com/736x/d2/16/d5/d216d54329b136018e4dca634f839a1d--diy-pool-pool-spa.jpg). I took a deep breath and began to swim deeper and deeper, and I realised it was taking a lot more strength than I thought (I was only little). So once I was under the red part, I realised I was running out of air and I could barely hold my breath any longer. I was hitting the underside of the platform because I needed to go up. I somehow managed to pull myself forward and come up on the other side.

When I broke through the surface I took a massive breath...and then my dad yelled at me. :(

Swimming is obviously a very dangerous and traumatizing activity :,).

i don't even know how many times i nearly got run over by cars at the road near my school, because it happens so often. even though the green man is still going while i'm crossing the road, drivers are | | < this close to me. this one time, i actually felt a car hit my backpack.

adding to the common topic of 'swimming', i nearly drowned during my swimming carnival back in 2013. i was forced by my house captain to join the freestyle race. i haven't swam since 2009. as soon i got into the pool, i drowned. a teacher had to help me out. it was sooo traumatising.
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?
