What do you do for food if you have to take your own lunch?

Usually buy my lunch at the moment because I just can't be fiddlesticked making my own. Gonna have to start taking my own lunch to work soon, though - so what should I take?

Is the default like, lunch overs from the next before? What's something quick, filling and healthy? What do y'all do for lunch at school/uni at the moment?

pls help

I generally make myself a sandwich. Takes about 10 minutes to make

(Highkey going to use this thread for more ideas haha)
Usually I take lunch in, it varies between
- leftovers from the night before (i.e. Pizza)
- Sandwiches and rolls
- Salads
- Rice (precooked obviously)

None of these require much preparation and are great for a quick lunch :)

Do you have a microwave at the ready?

You could have a sandwich ready to toast for lunch! Or simple pasta and pesto, my favourite at the moment.

Well..... originally I was quite boring and just had a roll w/ meat and lettuce and stuff.

Then I discovered the microwave. I take some 'ready made' meals (they are fresh from the supermarket). Like little pots of stuff (e.g. pasta, noodles etc).

Or... if you're the uni version of me.. you won't eat a proper lunch and just eat crap from the vending machine :)

Thanks for the responses!

Will probably have a microwave! Definitely like a good toasted sandwich.

I'll typically just use leftovers. In failing that, wraps with salami, salad, and hummus are perfect.

Bean salad is quick and easy. Can never go wrong with rice (typically with spinach, spices, veggies, sometimes chicken). Noodles too. Just get any staple food, add spice/herbs, add veggies, add chicken if desired, and you're good.

Occasionally I buy lunch, but I prefer to bring my own. Much cheaper. :P

Tomorrow I’m taking lentil Bolognese, so there’s an idea. Other meals I’ve taken:
- Pesto pasta
- Curries
- Vegetables with rice, or quinoa – These sorts of meals go by a few different names, search for ‘Nourish bowls,’ ‘Macro bowls,’ or ‘Buddha bowls,’ for some recipes!
- Sandwiches or wraps if I’m feeling lazy.

What do you do for food if you have to take your own lunch?
go hungry generally
(I have lost lots of weight (semi-purposefully) when working full time because i can't be stuffed preparing my lunch and i won't have time/money to buy lunch)

My mentality is usually something along the lines of - if I dont have time to go out and get lunch, then I will probably be so busy that the hunger won't even hit me.
Actually now that im saying this stuff out loud (I mean typing it out loud), it sounds kind of silly, but I guess it works for me.
I think Aarons idea of ready made meals is a great one. They've become very popular recently and are GREAT if you are trying to stick to a certain diet/want to eat healthy/count your macronutrient intake. Australia is actually a bit behind the curve on these because I know when I have studied overseas they have been a very VERY popular option.

Or... if you're the uni version of me.. you won't eat a proper lunch and just eat crap from the vending machine :)
I thought I was the only one who did this :P

I used to take my own lunch in for school. Some things I had were
Sandwiches - but not plain/boring sandwiches. I currently like to toast them but I used to have chicken sandwiches and warm them up too.
Leftovers - Often my parents cooked more so that it could last for a few lunches. Some things I often had were curries (japanese, or thai curry), roast vegetables, and sometimes just standard boiled vegetables.
Wraps - a nice sandwich alternative
Leftover takeaway.

Make use of microwaves if they have them. If you cook a big batch of something it can last for a few lunches, and be a tasty home-cooked meal :)

Yeah, I think this is my plan. Can't be pasta, though, because I honestly don't think I could get through a night knowing there's uneaten pasta in the fridge haha.

Typically I'm like spectroscopy, and when out I don't eat at all, I've always got enough going on that I don't get hungry.

If I do bring something, simplicity matters:
- firm raw f&v you can eat whole with no dissection, e.g. apple, kiwi fruit, carrot
- dry cereal
- cup-a-soup packet
- possibly a sandwich/roll
and that's about the extent of it lol.

Certainly don't suggest this, but when you take chicken crimpys out of their box, the silver packet thingy fits perfectly in my blazer pocket.... ;D
