Possible Breadth Tracks for BSc Students?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking at doing the Bachelor of Science at Melbourne University next year. I was going through breadth subjects that I might be interested in but realised some said they aren't available for those studying the Bachelor of Science. So I came upon the Bachelor of Science Breadth Page which says 'You are encouraged to take at least one of the three-subject breadth tracks available to Bachelor of Science students. '

I was wondering if anyone knew what the three-subjects breadth tracks available to BSc students are.

Thanks!! :D :D

https://handbook.unimelb.edu.au/components/breadth

all the breadth tracks are here
you can click on one you like and it will say if those subjects are available as breadth in the BSc or not

^Thanks tashhhaaa!!

I didn't want to start a whole new thread so I thought I'd post my question here - how many breadth subjects do we take per semester in Melbourne Uni (bachelor of science)? I have looked at the course structure on the Bachelor of Science's website, and it says:

"2. Breadth subjects - 50 points of breadth subjects, including at least 12.5 points at Level 2 or Level 3"

Okay, so I understand that, but then I look at some Breadth subjects and they all say '12.5 points'. So am I supposed to do 4 then? But there are six semesters in the Bachelor of Science, so what happened to the other two Breadth subjects??? Are they the two Elective Subjects (25 points total, so two subjects) you have to do?

I'm so confused, any and all help is appreciated!!

That's right. You can actually do 6 breadths if you want according to the handbook:

"25 points (either science subjects or breadth subjects) at Level 1, 2 or 3"

means you can do 2 extra breadth subjects if you want OR just fill up the slots with science electives
if you chose this option you could do one breadth per semester
it doesn't matter when you do your breadth though you could technically do all of them in a couple of semesters or in the winter or summer terms
but the minimum no. of breadths you can do is 4.

Keep in mind that you don't have to take official "breadth" subjects to fulfill your breadth requirement, either. You can take almost anything as long as its from outside your 'home' faculty.
