Hey!
I think it's really great that you're already thinking ahead into next year and final exams, but don't worry you're definitely not behind!

When I did Chinese SL 1/2 (in a combined SL/SLA class, so everyone was at the same progress), the teacher made us "decide on" a DS topic in December (without even really giving us any info on the exam itself), but I ended up going for something completely different in February in 3/4 after my interests changed. In Japanese our whole class didn't have any idea what was going on until around March lol
and half the class ended up getting >40sThat being said, it's awesome that you're planning ahead, just make sure that you're not going to stress/burn yourself out/get bored with the DS topic and the
(TBH boring af) GC questions too early since you'll be spending
a lot of time with oral prep next year, especially as a year 11 who isn't bogged down by other subjects. At this stage, I think it's best to just toss some topic ideas around and see which one sticks, do a bit of research to see what you're in for and
maybe formulate what sub-topics you want to talk about, but these are by no means necessary to get a good score.
Improving your general language skills through reading/listening/writing, however, is always a good idea, and IMO that's probably the best direction to go in during summer holidays to do a bit of preparation.
Just my two cents but hope this helps! Good luck with everything
