Four subjects - 3/4

Heya guys,

I am currently completing 'Theatre Studies' 3/4 as an early VCE, and doing English, Psych, Business, Health, Further as 1/2.

I really can't deal with Further and am looking at dropping it for next year and sticking with the other four subjects. Would this be a risk?

I am interested in studying either a degree in something Primary Teaching or Psychological related.

Thanks heaps everyone and good luck with all your exams!

You might need further for getting into uni. Look up some uni's/courses and see what the prereqs are. You will probably struggle to get into education/psych without having done a math.

Just checked. There are only 2 places that offer a Bachelor of Primary Teaching directly, being Swinburne (which only needs a 25 SS in English or equivalent/ 30 SS for English) or Deakin (which needs some form of maths + same English requirement). All others are labelled slightly differently (Childhood and Early Years, Education - Primary Teaching, etc.), where a good portion of these include the same English requirement and a requirement of some type of maths (including either 2 of U1/2 General, Methods and Spesh OR a U3/4 of any maths). Psychology generally doesn't require maths, however, if you're trying to do so under a Bachelor of Science, there are a number of institutions which say you have to do a little maths as their requirement.

Bottom line is please keep going with maths. You'll probably need it to open up your chances.
VCE: Psych | Eng Lang | LOTE | Methods | Further | Chem
Uni: Bachelor of Science (Hons) - genetics
Current: working (sporadically on AN)

I would strongly urge you to keep continuing in further maths. If you do decide to go down the psychology route after school, then you may have to deal with some statistics (don't freak out! It's not too bad!!) but having an understanding of these maths principles will help you a lot :)

Good luck with your exams this year.
