Is a 47+ still possible? :'(

Hello everyone,
so I managed to get 38/40 for exam 1 (worked so hard, only for me to drop the easiest questions in the exam due to miscalculation ;-;)
and am within the top 8 of a high performing cohort for my ranking

Is it still possible for me to get a 47+ if I end up full marking exam 2?
Absolutely depressed that the questions I got wrong are questions I've been getting right in practice exams  :'( :'(

Anythings possible man. I did the same mistake like you 11 TIMES.
Look, 47 is still very possible as you're above the average and possibly 1-2 standard deviations beyond
(How did you know your rank btw?)

I just went up to my teacher and told him, he didn't tell me exactly what my rank was, he just told me that all I needed to know was that I am within the top 8 of my cohort.

I guess we'll have to just focus on full marking exam 2 :'( It just sucks that I got the easiest questions in that exam wrong due to miscalculation, even after checking 3 times!!!!! That would mean that I misclicked 3 times consecutively for both questions :'( :'(

I know someone who dropped 2 marks in further and got a 49 (i think this is a extremely rare case though). Pretty sure he did it in 2014 so not sure about that years difficulty  :-\

General consensus from what I'm seeing is that this is one of the harder further exams in a while, if that means anything I guess. :/

I didn't do further so won't be able to judge the realtive difficulty, eitherway at the top end I don't think exam difficulty plays much a role

I am in the same boat, except I'm rank 2 with the highest exam mark at my school. Would i still be able to get 47+ if I ace exam 2?

Yes if you drop 1 mark in Exam 2, you will get at least 47, maybe 48 if it's a hard exam. If you ace Exam 2, you will get a 49 most likely, but 50 is not possible

Generally I have found that this exam was much harder than previous years, with some teachers even complaining that some question should not have been on the exam (Question 8 on Geometry and Measurement)

Yep that is true, it was harder than previous years for sure, which means losing 3 in Exam 2 may give a 47, again depending on the difficulty of the exam. I'm predicting Exam 2 will be as rough as Exam 1, so slightly lower marks will be required than usual

Listen this exam was NOT hard if you knew all your information/concepts. It was tricky. I made 11 mistakes because I made mistakes I knew were tricky in practice exams (which I knew before hand)  Time LITERALLY threw my train of thought away (I was able to do 3 questions during reading time). This exam is designed to be a game changer and that is why people found the last one easy. You got thrown off on Friday. THATS IT

If it's designed to be a tricky time crunch then doesn't that make it hard?

The rest of the state and the teachers seemed to have the impression that it was particularly challenging. Each to their own tho :)

Totally Agree with you there, the exam was difficult because it was tricky. Take Question 23 (Core), it asked you to find the payment amount. From my school a very large proportion of students chose B-$100 since they have never seen a change in payment from each payment period, this is honestly what made the exam time consuming and tricky.
