Concurrent maths diploma and HECS exemption questions

Hey guys, so after really enjoying accerlated maths 2 despite an initial struggle and doing some reading/research, I'm interested in doing the concurrent maths diploma with the acturial major. I still feel I'm super motivated to eventually become an actuary, so in all honestly this will be more of studying due to interest (if I never discovered acturial studies, I would be doing a maths degree), rather than to open more pathways, although I wouldn't mind having other options there in case.

From here http://students.unimelb.edu.au/achieve/concurrent-diplomas , it says that you're entitled to 50 points of maths diploma as a HECS exemption and from here http://www.undergraduates.ms.unimelb.edu.au/course_advice/dip_math_sci/plans/commerce/actl2.php , if I did the stats and stochastic major I could cross credit the 4 subjects in the acturial major. So would this mean I could essentially add on this major for free? (Apart from the "cost" of extra time studying) I'm guessing the stats and stochastic major wouldn't differ greatly from what I'll learn in acturial studies apart from the 4th non stats subject (planning to do the 3 stats subjects on that link and complex analysis - lol I was convinced), but I feel since this is more for interest I'd be silly to pay $1000+ extra in course fees.

So if I've understood correctly and the stats major is a free addition, would I be likely to actually be accepted? They say there's competitive selection, so would my estimated average in the two AM subjects of mid to high 70s be too low? Would the fact I did the AM pathway improve my chances compared to someone getting the same average in calc2/linear algebra pathsway? I was well above the stated prerequisite of 30 in spesh, but I don't even think that's relevant anymore.

Also, assuming I get accepted and everything goes according to my plan, I'll be doing 2 summer subjects and 3 subjects a semester for 3 more years, after reading all maths and acturial subject dates from handbook (could probably fit it in quicker, but feel travel time and work really impacts me, so underloading will really help my grades and stress levels, and is actually another reason I'm considering this). If after this I get the grades needed for honours in acturial studies, would my chances of acceptance into honours be lower due to me underloading? Any advice is appreciated, thanks everyone :)

Yeah the concurrent diploma is basically HECS-free if you cross credit the maximum of 4 subjects. You should have no problem getting into the diploma, I was worried when I applied midway through 2nd year and at that point my marks were average with some shockers in first year but they seemed pretty lenient about it.

I'll let someone else help you out with the actuarial stuff since it's been a while since I've been familiar with the course  :P but doing 3 subjects per sem is pretty great, much easier than 4 per sem and it actually still counts as full time study which is handy when it comes to student concessions, centrelink and all that stuff.
