CAS Tips for Methods SAC

Yo everyone!

I know this topic has probably been posted to death before but I'm gonna post this anyway  :P

I have an exam for 1/2 methods coming up covering the following areas: Matrices, Quadratics, Diff/Antidiff, Linear Equations, Graphs (sqr root, truncus etc. and functions and relations).

I was just wondering are there any underused CAS tricks to help with tricky analysis/application questions and save time?  ;D

Define everything. Whenever you are given a function, define it. Saves a lot of time and reduces the probability of making stupid errors.

For diff/antidiff just obviously use the CAS function to save time.

If there is a relation, you can still graph it on your CAS.

If there is a pronumeral in the function you can still get a feel for the shape by using sliders on the graph page.

Define everything.

Couldn't agree with this more. Especially in longer questions, it will save your life.

Just a little one - never draw a graph without graphing it on your CAS first. It''l show the shape and amount of intercepts/stationary points and its good (for me anyway) to just be able to see what I'm about to draw.

The solve function (sure you're already using it but still) is also a lifesaver - whenever you're solving a quadratic/cubic/whatever, just solve it on your CAS to make sure. Don't forget to write working out on the page though!

These links could help you as well for a refresher in doing certain process on the CAS (I'm assuming you use a classpad)
Classpad
Classpad II
Jack of all trades, master of none.
Hence why i'm in all these different threads and boards.
