Free VCE, University motivation and tips
« on: November 25, 2017, 02:37:16 pm »
Hey guys, hope school's going well and/or the end of exams have been lovely!

My name is Rob, and I'm a long-time user of AN (over 5 years now) who graduated from high school back in 2015, and now I'm about to enter my final year of University (Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne). Having been through the VCE process personally and also from a second-hand perspective through the various students that I have tutored, I've managed to learn so much more about pitfalls that students commonly get stuck in and the various strategies that have worked.

Something that really inspires me is being able to give back to the community, so I've decided to make a free mailing list for those who are interested and sending out occasional emails with the latest lessons that I've picked up through my personal ups and downs through VCE and Uni. In addition, i'm also planning on sharing strategies to help you make the most of VCE, University or even to just offer some additional insight on issues and subjects that i've commonly seen, but rarely discussed :)

Content through this will always be free, so if you're interested, please sign up here: http://eepurl.com/dbB7v9

Looking forward to sharing my experience with you all :)

I’ve subscribed!

I’m a long time lurker and I’ve been around when you were completing VCE (yes, I’ve been on AN since I was in junior school!). I also stumbled across some unimelb newsletters and saw that you were doing pretty amazing things in international case study competitions that were pretty inspirational.

So I’d like to suggest if you’d be able to share advice on what it takes to succeed and be selected for these opportunities? Hopefully it’s not unimelb specific since I plan on doing a double degree (with commerce) at Monash.

Also, something more general, what study habits or techniques have you picked up or adjusted from VCE to uni which you had to make or realised that worked?

The amount of effort and time I put in to studying was insane this year but I’m almost sure that it won’t be reflected when results come out unfortunately. I really studied hard but I thought I was also studying smart but perhaps not.

Best of luck, I’m sure you’ll succeed in the future!
You are not special. You're not a beautiful and unique snowflake. “You're the same decaying organic matter as everything else. We're all part of the same compost heap.”

Thank you, it's fantastic to hear this! :)
Will definitely pen an email regarding this towards the start of Uni!

Love the suggestions, and would love it if anyone else has any that they'd like to share :)
