Only student in cohort = Rank 1?

Hey! I have been reading about how cohort ranking affects SAC results and was just wondering how it works if I am the only student in the cohort? I go to a small school ~150 students and am in a very small class of 12. We do some sort of "piggy back" system where, because of the small numbers, yr 11 and 12 get taught at the same time in the same room. Pretty regularly everyone but one student will leave a course, but this course will still be continued due to the combined classes.

E.g. For specialists this year 4/5 yr 12's dropped it. But the class will be continued with yr 11's (myself) while we are taught different courses.

So what will happen to the yr 12 student this year? Will everything be riding on his exam results as SACs will be scaled to full marks with his exam results taking place?
I am heading into yr 11 so it doesn't really matter but I was just curious.

Not a professional on this but..
Usually if the cohort of a 3/4 is less than 5 (I think) it is combined with another cohort maybe from a different school.
And also let’s pretend if there was only one student, their sacs wouldn’t scale to full marks. Rank 1 in a cohort usually gets the highest exam score moderated to their raw sac. So if the highest is 80 in an exam rank 1 would get 80 as their sac GA.

Someone correct me if I’m wrong, this is my understanding.

Thank you for this, but I am still quite confused. Isn't the point of even taking cohort into account because of how different schools do different SACs? If so, how would combining two schools work? Would they have to be issued the exact same SAC? Thank you for your response.

This happened to me in year 12, so I can shed some light on the situation:

Typically, the teachers should be in collaboration during the whole process. You don't need to be taught, or even see, the other teacher, but they should be giving the same SACs to their students that you get from your teacher. That way, it all stays fair.

This year in Physics my school's cohort got combined with another school (my school: 26 students, other school: 4 students). The teacher of the other school taught our school last year, so that's probably why they combined with my school even though we had enough on our own. My teacher kept on talking about the collaboration with our 1/2 teacher (teacher at other school now) and when we asked questions about the sac she would say "I'll just check with [other teacher] to make sure you get the same information". So basically we got the same sac's as this other school, the two teachers marked them together and moderated with each other and we were combined in the same rank, even though we went to different schools
