Hello everyone,
So VCAA have emailed everyone stating that we have the option to opt out of a hard copy ATAR statement that everyone will be receiving. When they say a hard copy ATAR statement, is it another way to saying the VCE statement of results with the units and study scores for each subject? Thanks.

I don't believe we do. According to the VTAC website:
Quote
All current VCE students will receive a statement of VCE study scores from the VCAA. However, only students who have applied for courses through VTAC this year and have paid their VTAC processing fees will be sent an ATAR statement in the mail.

Because year 11 students cannot apply for courses, we won't receive a hard copy ATAR statement (nor have we satisfactorily completed VCE yet!)

EDIT: We do! Statement of Marks and GAT

You will get a statement of your studies though, detailing what Unit 1/2 subjects you completed, as well as your study score for your 3/4. In addition to this, you will also get a statement outlining your marks for the GAT

Will this be a soft-copy or hard-copy?

You get a hard copy, but you can access your study score through electronic means as well if you wish (except for the GAT stuff, which is only hard copy)

In the email it said that we'll be receiving this hardcopy by Monday 11th December. Does that mean we get to know our ATARs early???!?!

“This will be sent to the postal address that is listed on your VTAC account as of 5pm Monday December 11.” This is the quote from VTAC from the email you’re talking about. I feel like this can be interpreted two ways. Either you’ll be sent the letter on the 11th or the letter sent on an unspecified date will be sent to the address listed on the 11th. I’m pretty sure it’s the latter. Isn’t it weird how a sentence can be interpreted in different ways?

There’s no way they will be leaving any chance of releasing ATARs early after last year’s shitshow. Given the wording and that fact I’m 99% sure it just means it will be sent to the address you have listed before December 11 at 5pm. The letter itself will probably be sent the day before and arrive a few days after December 15 thanks to good old Australia Post.

What happened last year?

There was a period of time a few days before they released ATARs where people who texted their details to the results service in preparation for ATAR day actually received their results. If memory serves correctly it was around 7pm-8pm on December 8th when results were to be released on December 12th. Safe to say VCAA copped it in the media and they decided to make an app and abolish the text service.

GAT scores will come in automatically, contact your VCE coordinator for your VTAC number (i.e. the number you need to login to get your ATAR)
