There have been quite a few stories of people having this ATAR, but the case is that they're either rural or they have amazingly high UMATs (i.e. 99th or 100th). But even then, the former case is most likely. Another factor is interview performance, whereby having this kind of ATAR calls for a high to very high interview performance to eventually get a place.

Nearly all universities in Australia require an ATAR of at least 95 to be eligible to receive an offer however Adelaide and Monash only have minimum ATARs of 90 so theoretically you could get in with an ATAR of below 95. As cookiedream said, if you’re not rural, you’d need an exceptional interview and UMAT of 100th percentile to even have a chance as the competition is incredibly intense.
