Enrolment question #2

Hello forum users,

I have a few questions. Thank you for reading and if possible, answering some/one/all.

1. What is the difference between the "Economics Stream" and the "General Stream" in Commerce. I have researched and all information I found was outdated.

2. If you are double majoring, will you spend equal time learning about both areas: is there a difference between (for e.g.) Finance and Economics or Economics and Finance as a double major.

3. If I were to double major in Finance and Economics, what advice would you have in regards to how I should structure my subjects over three years.

4. [reserved]

Thank you and kind regards,

Eventful

Bump. I'd really like to know what the difference between the General and Economics Stream is.

I think the handbook explains all of this - have a read of it first.

Disclaimer: I'm not a unimelb student, and my knowledge of the BCom structure is all second-hand / handbook.

My understanding is that the 'streams' are just a way for the system to generate a study plan for you, but I don't think it locks you into any subject selection? Ditto for 'declaring' a major - people change majors all the time.

And no, it doesn't matter which one comes first: You must satisfy the requirements for the major (contained in the handbook) regardless.

Thank you for your help. Unless I have completely missed the section time and time again, I haven't found anything regarding the three available stream specifically in the handbook.

I'm in a similar position. The person at Stop1 told me to enrol in the Economics stream and it sounds like we have similar study schedules, so I suggest you do the same.
