Language Placement - French

Hi guys, so I just took the language placement test for French and it turns out that I am eligible for FREN10006 - French 5. However, when I looked at the requirement on the unimelb handbook, it also states a study score of 35 or above for VCE French. I received a study score of 34 and was wondering whether maybe French 4 would be a better option ?

French 4 starts in Sem2. You'd have to select between 3 or 5 if you wanted to start this early. IF you're able to do French 3, I'd recommend that. With a study score of 34, French 5 would be a particularly big challenge.

Thanks for the advice, I知 definitely leaning towards French 3, however I知 a bit confused as towards how to enrol in it. Since I am eligible for French 5, does that mean I must take French 5? Also, I知 unable to enrol in either on the website and I知 not sure why.

Some of the placement tests are binding. Best to chat to the French 5 subject coordinator about it. You can find their details in the handbook.
