Can you be more specific please.

Medical science is a very broad category individual courses may or may not require the UMAT.

If you are talking about the combined BMedSc/MD courses offered by universities such as Monash and UNSW, then medical science does require the UMAT.

it just says bachelor of Medical Science for UNSW... under the category of science courses not medicine. http://www.uac.edu.au/undergraduate/courses/unsw/429700.shtml
I'm interested in biology or chemistry field and want to do research, laboratory works (?) etc not the actual docter/medical degree and unsure if this course require UMAT

According to this page from UNSW, there is no additional selection criteria besides the ATAR for the course.
