Can you use u-substitution in Methods for differentiation with the chain rule?
While I'm at it: is there anything (else?) in specialist that you're not allowed to use in methods?

Thanks!

Any correct mathematics is permissible, whether it's in the course or not

I wouldn't but thats just me - you will never need to use it and marking for questions with multiple marks (especially the method marks) gets a little hazy once you start doing stuff thats not on the course so it'll all depemdend on which assesor you get.

You're allowed to use valid maths that isn't on the course but if you get the wrong answer you might not get working marks and sometimes questions will directly ("apply/using [technique]") or indirectly ("hence") specify the method
