Just wondering has anyone pulled off a successful transfer like this, and is it even possible?

Hey skuxdeluxe,

I'd say you'll probably be able to make this transfer. Depending on what your weighted average mark (WAM) currently is, you shouldn't have too many problems transferring - even if the 2 degrees are vastly different, as long as you meet the commerce or business pre-requisites of having done some sort of maths in VCE.

Have a look here https://atarnotes.com/forum/index.php?topic=141715.0 and you'll see that you should be able to make it - but I'd speak to course advisers at Monash if possible just to be safe.

Good luck with the transfer,

James

Cheers mate, yeah I made a dumb decision of doing something that I don't really enjoy doing and was too late into doing a business degree. I made the prerequisites fortunately, just made a regretful descision haha.

I'll speak to the course advisors at Monash aswell, I thought I was screwed when I chose to do a science degree haha, but I'll try my best to get a high wam. Btw, where do you contact the course advisors? Do I have to go to the business faculty and search for their numbers?

I see you're from Springy haha south east rep

You would need to satisfy the methods pre read if you wanted commerce.

Also the WAM is really high and higher for non Monash students I believe.

I'm not much of a fan of the Caulfield campus personally but you would probably have an easier time getting into  the bachelor of business first and then transferring to commerce after half a semester, I believe you can get prior credit for your units but don't quote me on that.

Feel free to PM me about anything, happy to give advice about school and/or uni.

What's the wam required to do a bachelor of business @ monash? was wondering if I could do my science degree @ rmit then transfer mid year to business @ monash and then after that 2nd semester, go for commerce at monash

You deffs could that's the pathway I proposed.

The min WAM would be around  75 around there for Commerce

Business would be significantly less. Maybe 65 or even 60

was also wondering what sort of units should I do? Should I choose easy units or my core units?

Core units first year ones at least at usually easy.

If you wanted to transfer choose the units with the easiest assignments and lowest exam % weighing.

You could get accepted to commerce with <75 WAM. They said to transfer to Arts/Law you’d need 75-80 but I met a lot of people in the course who’d transferred in from below 75.

If you’ve only got 2 units just get good scores in them and move straight to Commerce. Now is your best chance to do that.

moving straight to commerce mid semester? would the average percentage to get in be higher?

Nah, probably higher chance of being accepted if anything because less people apply then
