My methods aren't quite as broad or have been pruned as much as they could be, since I'm just a year 10 student, but the best way I find to consolidate and remember information is to write really short dot-point notes on a need-to-know basis, and expand the idea in my head.
Another great method is to teach someone else, as if you can tell someone else what you have learned, then you'll definitely remember how it works and how to explain it in an assessment.
I'm not the kind of person who likes using cue cards, but if that is a way to remember it, then so be it.
Diagrams also help, but creating them can be a bit of a hassle if you're not that great of an artist or have finesse in the hand, but you can use a computer to generate something graphical fairly quickly if you're adept enough in I.T.
