Hi everyone,

I am wondering if math methods is a prerequisite to go into Melbourne University, whatever the course is
OR
if methods is a prerequisite for only few courses, which means if you apply for a course that doesn't need math, you can go into Melb Uni.

Thanks in advance.

just looking at the main undegrads
Arts @ unimelb doesn't need methods (unless it's a major in Economics)
Biomedicine/Commerce/Science @ unimelb need methods

however as a whole you should be checking the specific course you want for the prerequisities since there isn't a blanket rule for the uni.

Hope this helps :)

Sine is 100% correct - I want to add that if you are in Arts/Design/Agriculture/ and you want to complete majors that need methods but you didn't do it in VCE, or if you intend on transferring to a methods-needing-course you can take an equivalent subject in your first year.
The subject is called 'Introduction to Mathematics' (MAST10012) and is equivalent to Math Methods 3/4 (but you need to have Methods 1/2 as a minimum for entry into it).
Reiterating what has already been said, check out the entry requirements for each course and they are all different: https://coursesearch.unimelb.edu.au/undergrad
VCE // ATAR 98.35
2015: Bio [40]
2016: Studio Art [48], Psych [47], English [44], Viscom [43], Further [37]
2017-?: Bachelor of Design @UniMelb (Architecture Major)
