I'm so ashamed to say that I genuinely love watching trashy dating shows such as the Bachelor series and as well as Married at First Sight...
I only just started watching the Bachelor series when I heard Sophie Monk was going to be the next Bachelorette and my first thought was "wow finally someone with personality!". I actually enjoyed watching Sophie's season because she was so bubbly and so enjoyable to watch! Sucks that her and Stu broke up though because I really wanted her to just be happy. I was annoyed when I heard Ali was going to be the next Bachelorette because it's such a huge drop from Sophie Monk. I didn't even like Ali on BIP, how do you expect me to watch her on the Bachelorette? Should've been a fresh face or at least someone with personality.
Bachelor in Paradise on the other hand;
It was more enjoyable to watch the earlier episodes JUST because there weren't any established couples YET so it was funny seeing everyone chasing one another. When there were definite couples (such as Sam/Tara, Megan/Jake, Apollo/Simone, Ali/Grant, Keira/Jarrod, Luke/Lisa etc.) the season got more boring. Though I did continue to watch the show because I love watching petty drama mwhahah. It's also a part of the entertainment industry I would LOVE to work in so I watch these trashy dating shows to observe its editing styles.
I really can't compare Aus BIP to America BIP because I haven't watched the American version. I felt that the show's structure was so darn repetitive. Bring in someone new. Free drinks. Rant to Wais. DATE CARD. Love triangle. Someone crying. OSHER. Rose ceremony. REPEAT. It was so smart to bring in Apollo later on in the season to create more drama which definitely worked with the whole Apollo/Simone/Elora love triangle.
I honestly hope for the couples who actually worked out, they will actually get married because the concept of the show is so strange. You're brought to Paradise; a free holiday for six weeks. Are you more in love with the person you're with or with the idea of love? Really hope Sam and Tara get married because they seem like a genuine couple. I definitely had doubts about Sam at first because he acted like such an arsehole on Sophie's season of the Bachelorette. So when him and Tara became a couple, I was like mmmhh. But the more you watch the show, you can actually see this beautiful relationship blossoming and I feel that it is so genuine. Really hope that Jarrod and Keira work out well because it was actually so heartbreaking seeing Jarrod getting rejected by Sophie last year. Seeing from their instagrams, they're still together and loved up!
I'm gonna stop here because I've basically exposed myself on AN about how much I've invested my time into this show ahaha
