ENG essay paragraphs focus

Hi all!

This might sound like a basic question, but I realised I don't actually know what the focus of my paragraphs should be for each of my english modules. I'm struggling to write my module A essay at the moment, because I'm not sure what my thesis/two (I like doing two body paragraphs) ideas that derive from it should be.

The one module I AM sure about is module B - I do the speeches topic, and I base my paragraphs around values (empathy, pragmatism etc.)

But what about AOS, Module A and C? Does it depend on what topic I'm doing?

Thanks guys :D

For Mod A I suggest basing your paragraphs around themes and concerns that both texts address.

You could structure it like this...
Paragraph 1: Text 1- theme 1
Paragraph 2: Text 2- theme 1
Paragraph 3: Text 1- theme 2
Paragraph 4: Text 2 - theme 2

For example, an essay on Metrop./1984 might look like
Paragraph 1: Metrop. - Power and control
Paragraph 2: 1984 - Power and control
Paragraph 3: Metrop. - Resistance and rebellion
Paragraph 4: 1984 - Resistance and rebellion

within each paragraph, I think a good template might be:
1- topic sentence (state show text addresses theme)
2- context
3- representation (quotes and techniques) <-- it's good to weave context with your quotes and techniques but it's not crucial
4- values that the composer conveys
5- linking statement

Just to add onto this, Module A is about a compariative study of texts. So within each of your paragraphs, it's good to insert little comparisons of how a certain theme/element is shown in your other text.

For example, if you're looking at power and control in metropolis, and you talk about the use of costuming to remove individuality and dehumanize, then it's good to add a small comparison about how costuming is used in 1984. It doesn't have to be much. Something like this:
Concept statement...Costuming is used in metropolis as a means of dehumanizing and removing individuality. Similar to the blue overalls of the party in 1984,the workers in metropolis all wear identical uniforms stitched with numbers, resembling branded cattle. This would then be a good point to then talk about context. E.g Lang's utilization of customing highlights his fears of the dark side of industrialization and its power to dehumanize the individual.
Obviously, this is not the strongest of examples, but its generally explaining my point.

Another good tip would be to look at the Module A essays in the notes section here and look at how people have structured their essays as well.

I'm not quite sure about Module C, as i am doing that now...

But AOS is pretty much a generic essay; there are no underlying extra bits (like in module A you have to talk about comparisons and context). So its pretty much
