hey, I'm really upset because I've been studying so hard for my English Language and get bad or lukewarm results. My goal is to get a study score of 40 but I don't think I can achieve it now because of my SAC scores.
First SAC (part 1a, worth 20/50 vcaa marks for AOS1): 23/30 (77%)
Second SAC (part 1b, worth 30/50 vcaa marks for AOS1): 34/50 (68%)
I'm really upset at these scores, especially the second SAC since it was an AC and I worked really hard on it. Do you think it's still possible to achieve a 40 if I get these kind of SAC scores (60-70s) for the rest of the year? I don't think so right? And I'm not sure about the ranking but I know there are quite a few people who did well, and those who have lower marks than me.
Hey cdiamond.

Sorry to hear you're disappointed with your scores. EngLang's a tough subject.
Straight up, can definitely still get a 40+ with 77% and 68% for your first two SAC marks. The thing is, VCAA doesn't really care about your raw marks, because it's practically impossible to compare raw marks from school to school. That is, what if you have really difficult SACs? What if your teachers mark really stringently? They care more about your ranking in your cohort, which some schools don't give out at all.
We have an explanation of how stuff like SAC moderation works
here, but it's certainly not essential knowledge. All you need to know at this point is that you definitely
can still get that 40+ study score.
