Do you have a niche area of knowledge?

Simple question as above.

I was thinking about this earlier today and noticed that a lot of British TV sees people talking about really specific subjects that you wouldn't expect anyone to have a lot of knowledge about. A striking example of this is that Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour leader over there, is supposedly an expert of manhole covers (which sounds absurd).

So the question is over to you: is there anything that you know a lot about that most people don't seem to? Do you know someone who knows a lot about something that seems like an odd topic to know a lot about? What is it?

How to cook different kinds of bugs.
And eat them.
Yep.
Ask if you want, it's a long story.

Not me, but my great-grandfather knew a lot about mosquitoes. The first page of his war journal had a hand-drawn diagram of a mosquito, which is how I know they have 47 'teeth' haha. His journal was strewn with mosquito facts as he learnt them

After being injured fighting in WWII, he was a nurse assistant (I can't remember the exact term) in Egypt (also how he knew Arabic), where he learnt a lot about mosquitoes while dealing with malaria infecting British forces

I'm asking.
WELL HERE WE GO (you asked for it),
I was always (am) one of those kids who had a fascination with the outdoors. We live right on a reserve, so I was constantly outside, getting bitten by mosquitoes, eating dirt, finding noisy miner chicks and bringing them home, things little kids do when they like something. This one time I was out with my sister, must have been about 5 and she about 7, and we were picking up snails. Our Dad told us that French people eat snails, and my sister was like, ‘really?’ And just bit into the snail she was holding. Needless to say, chaos ensued, but after that I was genuinely interested in people eating bugs. From ages 5-9, I was obsessed with collecting bugs and trying to find ways to cook them. (Except for elm caterpillars. I would roll those in rainbow chalk dust and make them race each other. But that’s another story.)

Never got far until year 5, where we went to a place and got taught how to get ourselves some ‘bush tucker’, which of course included witchety grubs. Now I know how to cook witchety grubs in fire pits, grill tarantulas, and fry ants, etc… although Bogong moths are not a recommended dish. Also, dehydrated crickets actually taste almost exactly like peanuts, for those allergic to peanuts. :)

Does an extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter universe count?
Which will hold greater rule over you? Your fear or your curiosity?

I know how long it'll take me to get to my home station from any point along my line. Does this count? :')

HAHA I love this! I wish I had this skill tbh.

Almost, but no sorry. As the official arbiter of these things, of course.

Does an extensive knowledge of the Harry Potter universe count?

Another skill I wish I had; this is amazing.

I am obsessed with theme parks. Especially with Disney and universal.

I could list off the top of my head every single attraction at every single Disney and universal theme park in the world. Whether they have fast pass or not. Whether you should make them a priority first or not. What sort of wait times they usually get. When they opened. What age groups will enjoy it most. And just about any other fact about them.
And I have some trivia on just about every single attraction at the 12 Disney Parks and 6 universal parks.
And I have been to only 7 Disney and 4 universal parks. Yet I know about them all.

Not sure if this is niche but I know quite a bit on stationery. Too much, in fact. To the point where I spend 30 minutes choosing a pen at Officeworks because I have a specific criteria depending on what I'm looking for. I look at:

Nib size
What type of pen (gel pen, ball point etc)
Ink colour
Brand
Design of the pen
Price

Because I go to Officeworks all the time, I've practically memorised the shelves and where to find the products (I'm kinda sad I can't get a job at Officeworks ;-;).
