Doctor of Veterinary Medicine admission?

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had experience with gaining admission into the DVM at The University of Melbourne? I'm currently studying a Bachelor of Science and I'm in second year, majoring in Animal Health and Disease. I was wondering if anyone knows what WAM is usually competitive for the accelerated pathway? And also the third year entry via the Veterinary Bioscience specialisation?

I was also wondering: Say your WAM isn't high enough at these two entry points, what are your options to become a veterinarian? I know there are a few vet schools in Australia, but they seem to have different models than Melbourne, and I'm not sure what their WAM entry points would be either.

I appreciate the help.

A WAM of 81-82 should make you competitive for a CSP regardless of whether it's through the accelerated pathway or if you apply as a graduate. High 70s (probably 77-78+) would make you competitive for a full fee place.

I'm pretty sure there's currently 7 universities that offer veterinary degrees and unimelb is the only one in Victoria. Something to keep in mind if you want to practice internationally is only unimelb, Sydney, Adelaide and Murdoch (Perth) offer DVMs which allow you to register in places like the US. I'm not sure what the WAM situation is for other unis but I know places like Charles Sturt put a lot more emphasis on (agricultural) experience than Melbourne does. I'd imagine they would be looking for similar sorts of marks, probably 70+ :)
