gillard spoke at my school in front of all the kids for no real reason. it was a super funny day because a vice principal fell off the stage and a kid started crying because he sat in the front row and wanted julia gillards signature and our english teacher said "but ms gillard has to sit there" so he started crying and ran to the back of the auditorium. Gillard then did the usual meet and greet shit and yea it was lit
She came to my school last year, I didn't go though because all I knew about her was that she was some random prime minister. I only she started paying attention to politics this year. I wish I'd gone :'(

I've never really met anyone famous, unless actors at comicon count (Comicon is this weekend! ;D)

Yeah we weren't allowed to not go because she was the current prime minister at the time and it was the one day where teachers really picked on everyone's uniform

Also Julian Burnside, a fairly prominent human rights lawyer and a couple of Neighbours actors from improv (I also met Sally Kingsford/Ashley from Summer Heights High there who coincidentally tutored me for Intro Microeconomics at uni for a bit before I dropped it).

Please, please, please elaborate on these meetings! I'm super interested in the Rudd-Gillard-Rudd era haha.
I met him when he did his book launch last year. Tbh I can't even really remember what he talked about now but he did mainly talk about his childhood/growing up as well as the current state of politics. He did talk a bit about his time in government and the 'faceless men' but just touched on it tho saying that politics was a dirty game or smth tbh I can't even remember now haha.

I did get to speak to him one-on-one afterwards for like a minute and took a photo with him but didn't say much haha. Was really interesting hearing him talk, esp cos he was the first 'famous person' I met haha.

Add me to the Gillard list. I've met her three times. She came to our school when I was in primary school (we were in her electorate), mum won a community award that Gillard awarded so I got to have a chat with her there and I've also met her at a speech she gave in Geelong :)

Other than that, not much else. I've been a metre or so away from Paul Keating? And I actually saw the Spanish president when I was in Spain recently (who just lost his job last week!).

Everyone here naming bloody politicians lmao (the amount of people who’ve met Julia Gillard omg)... meanwhile the most famous person I’ve met was probably Scott Tweedie (the dude that hosted Prank Patrol aka my childhood).

I'm family friends with the dude who co-wrote and performs 'Praying' with Kesha.
He plays piano at some of her concerts and stuff, too... our boy dun growed up good. :,)
It's all, like one-degree separation though. Met Michael Paynter through him as well.

AND OMG YOU MET SCOTT TWEEDIE?!?!

Justin Bieber, he walked into a McDonalds in a suburb near Melbourne (poor move on his part) and was swarmed by 20-30 teenage girls. I didn't speak to him or anything but he was about one metre behind me in line. It was funny to be apart of, people forget how to function. The workers behind the counter started messing up people's orders, two of the girls were too scared to serve. Just about everyone had their phones out recording him and were taking drive-by selfies (They would walk in front of him and take a quick photo). It was kinda sad but entertaining at the same time, he was the equivalent of a rare zoo animal to everyone.

I've met Julia Gillard as well, but for the sake of upvotes on this post I'll say that the most famous people I've met are @zsteve and @insanipi, legends of AN! Also @heids, another AN legend.
