VCE chem vs IB chem

Hi, I'm new to atar notes but would like to ask some questions about the VCE Chem content compared to the IB content. My teacher has recommended me to accelerate chem next year in year 10 and do VCE 1/2 along with VCE 1/2 Methods. The only problem is that my school offers IB as well. Many older students have said that if I accelerate VCE chem next year, and then do IB HL chem, my knowledge of VCE 1/2 chem could adversely affect my IB scores as they are vastly different courses that require you to do different things. Are there any other people in similar situations, or have done VCE chem and feel that the switch to IB chem in year 11 would negatively affect my performance? My chemistry theory ranges up to about mid year 12 VCE, but I haven't looked that much into the IB HL course, I just know that it's very different.
