Practice exams

I've searched and really can't find any practice exams that have been written for the new study design, so if anyone could share some, that would be great. If you need extra incentive, I have quite a lot of further/methods/spec exams that I'd be willing to trade. Thanks.

EDIT: One other question, what do you all think is the likelihood of us getting two articles and a visual for language analysis in the exam? I know the latter is a certainty, but looking over past papers it seems like VCAA have only ever given one article and a visual, or two articles and no visual - not all three.

The 2009 exam cover implies that the language analysis section will contain 1 opinion piece. If this is the case then it will almost certainly be accompanied by a visual. This is unlikely to change between now and the exam.

My teacher once said that they once gave three and it caught everyone by surprise, however she has been teaching for a long time, and so it isn't on the VCAA site of past exams, so it was probs 2-3 years before or something.

My teacher said that they once gave 3 pieces/articles a few years back. She has been teaching for quiet a while, so it isn't available from the VCAA site. But that is almost 90% unlikely especially so early in the new course? *hopes*

They have given more than one article before, although the instructions from the 2009 English cover clearly state "Read the opinion piece" which suggests only one text. Also keep in mind that the new study designed changed section C in the exam.

Although in my opinion, analysing one article is actually harder than analysing two or three. With one, you really need to go into detail with each of the devices you analyse and show deep insight into what the writer is trying to express. With 2-3 articles, due to time constraints your analysis does not need to be anywhere near as deep and instead you tend to focus more on comparing 'face' elements like tone and contention between the different texts.

Given that VCAA says the number of questions written on each cover is subject to change, I assume that would be as well.

ARE YOU SERIOUS! One article for me personally is 10 tiems easier, and I am able to go into detail easier. With 2-3 its so repititive, and I do not believe what I am writing, that is I write fake rubbish.

i totally agree with lynt.br's contention. With two articles, you can analyse a variety of techniques rather than experiencing written constipation with one article.

Anyway, my edit seems to have derailed this thread. Does anyone have any practice exams?

I have a 2008 IARTV in hard copy, but I'm happy to type up any requests for prompts in the Text Response and Context sections :)

Citizen Kane and Whose Reality would be great.

Citizen Kane and Whose Reality would be great.

Citizen Kane - Director: Orson Welles

1. "Perhaps Rosebud was something he couldn't get or something he lost. Anyway, it wouldn't have      explained anything. I don't think one word can explain a man's life."

To what extent is it possible to explain Kane's life?

OR

2. 'The film is notable for its technical effects.'
What impact do these have on the presentation of the story?

*****************************************************************

Context - Whose Reality?

Prompt - "The way we see ourselves may not be the way others see us"

Task - Use the prompt as the basis for a piece of writing exploring the idea that 'The way we see ourselves may not be the way others see us.' Your response is to be published in the 'Comment and Debate' pages of a leading Melbourne daily newspaper. You must draw on ideas and issues suggested by a text or texts from the list (A Streetcar Named Desire/Enduring Love/Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind/The Shark Net)
