HI there, I was doing the 2016 HSC paper in preparation for trials, and I came across the following question which I could not answer. All help is appreciated.

Explain how different discoveries in physics led to the development of THREE technologies, including the electric generator.    (6marks)

Hey! What part is confusing you here? I'll introduce you to what you should be doing, but without any explicit confusion, it is difficult to help you.

Explain - Cause and effect.

Because one of these needs to be the electric generator, start with the cause (i.e. the history) What did Faraday do? What did he find out? and how did his findings develop a generator? (i.e. the functionality of a generator and how this links to Faraday). This will be two marks.

Repeat this method for two other technologies in the course. There are heaps! Do the ones you know the most about :)

Hope this helps :))

im confused as to which technologies i should be talking about
i like to think about technologies referring to 'things' that have improved current standards of living and changed the world around us. So, in regards to this question other technologies you could talk about is transistors

As the question requires a bit of history towards it, I would talk about how technological advances to obtain silicon of sufficient purity have led to the development of transistors. Transistors replaced thermionic devices which were used during WWII for radio communications, however, thermionic had disadvantages (incl them, im just not gonna write everything out). The invention of transistors led to their use in microchips and microprocessors. Talk about their individual impact on society.

Hope this helps, just fix the wording as I just went off my head :)
